Established in 1972 by Claude and Ann Berthoud, Berthoud Winery is a family-owned Sonoma producer of small-production, handcrafted estate wines made in a historic 1919 wine barn. They use traditional methods like hand-punching grapes in open-top redwood vats, aging for 22 months in French oak barrels, pressing in a 19th-century basket press, and bottling without fining or filtration. Their meticulously managed estate grapevines yield less than two tons per acre for concentrated flavors.
