Free State Brewing Company is Kansas's first craft brewery, opened by Chuck Magerl on February 23, 1989, in Lawrence, Kansas. They produce handcrafted beers served at their brewpub and distributed throughout the region in bars and stores. Pioneers in the craft beer movement, they have won multiple awards and feature a restaurant, happy hours, brewery tours, and events.
